Callserve
offers Handsets with 3.5mm-jack and an USB-adapter for them. Price from 12$ to 50$ |
Headsets |
There are two different types of Headsets: those with an USB connector and those with a 3.5mm jack. Last ones are usually cheaper but need to be connected to your sound card. Unfortunately not all sound cards (especially onboard sound cards) work properly under Linux. USB Headsets have their own built-in sound card which should work without making any trouble with an up-to-date kernel. |
Logitech Premium Stereo USB-Headset 30 Very good stereo USB-headset. Currently used by us and works fine with Linux and Windows. Price approx. 54€ Logitech also offers other Headsets (USB and 3.5mm jack). |
Plantronics Headsets e.g. DSP100 USB-Mono-Headset. Excellent audio quality. Doesn't work with the kernel sound driver of kernel 2.4.21 and kphone or gnomemeeting (xmms works because of the different sample rates). But alsa-0.9.4 works fine. |
Softphones |
KPhone Very simple SIP-Softphone for Linux. (Debian-Package for woody.) |
GnomeMeeting |
Microsoft Messenger tested with v4.7 - Be careful! Don't mix it up with MSN Messenger (currently v5.0). These are completely different. Only Microsoft Messenger can handle SIP. |
X-Lite Free Windows-Softphone. Recommendable as it has lots of features like generating DTMF-Tones - e.g. to check Voicemail. |
easyhome talk Commercial product. Only for Windows. |
